Freight Invoice Audit: did you overpay for a shipment?
Upload a truckload or LTL freight invoice, or type in what you were billed, and see it against today's market price for the same lane: the quote a shipper would get, the price a negotiation usually reaches, and the lowest price a broker is likely to accept. Free to use.
How it works
- Upload the invoice as a PDF or photo (with a free FreightFA account) and Invoice Audit fills in the details for you to confirm. Or type them in yourself: what moved (dry van, reefer, flatbed, or LTL), where the load picked up and delivered, the ship date, and the total billed.
- Either way, check the ship date and the total billed. Put extras such as detention, lumper fees, or liftgate in their own field so they are left out.
- Invoice Audit prices the lane with the same calculator as the FreightFA Rate Estimator and marks your invoice against it.
- Dry van and LTL invoices get a verdict (above market, at market, good price, or well under market) and what negotiating would have saved. Reefer and flatbed invoices get FreightFA's estimate and the gap, without a verdict.
What it compares
- The all-in price with fuel. Fuel surcharges are not judged on their own.
- Invoices up to 30 days old directly; 30 to 90 days with a note that the market may have moved; older invoices get today's market for reference only.
Frequently asked questions
What is a freight invoice audit?
A freight invoice audit checks a carrier's or broker's bill before you accept what it charged. A traditional audit holds the invoice against your contract rate. FreightFA's Invoice Audit holds it against the market: what the same load costs today, what a negotiation usually reaches, and the lowest price a broker is likely to accept.
How do I know if I overpaid for a freight shipment?
Compare the all-in amount on the invoice (base price plus fuel, without extras like detention or liftgate) with what the same load costs on the market today. Invoice Audit does that for dry van and LTL loads and marks your invoice against the market quote, the negotiation target, and the walk-away floor.
Does FreightFA keep my freight invoice?
An invoice you type in is not saved unless you press Save to my profile after the audit: the amounts are used for the comparison only, and the lane is priced like any other rate lookup on FreightFA. If you upload an invoice, a third-party AI service reads the file and it is then discarded. FreightFA never keeps the file, the text read from it, names, addresses or document numbers. With your agreement before your first upload, it does keep the lane (to the 3-digit ZIP area), the kind of load, the ship date and the prices, without your name or account, to improve its benchmarks.
Can I upload my freight invoice instead of typing it in?
Yes, with a FreightFA account. Invoice Audit reads a PDF or photo of the invoice and fills in the form for you to check and confirm. Before your first upload you see how the invoice is read, how it is used and what is kept, and agree to it once. A free account includes 1 upload, Pro includes 1 a month, and Desk includes 100 a month. Typing an invoice in is free and not counted.
Can I save an audit?
Yes. With a FreightFA account, press Save to my profile after an audit and it is kept with your account: the lane, the kind of load, the ship date, the amounts and the result, and for LTL the weight, pallet count and freight class. You can delete any saved audit.
Does Invoice Audit check fuel surcharges and accessorials?
Not on their own. It compares the all-in price with fuel against the all-in market price, and leaves extras out of the comparison.
